A special promotion campaign titled “With Family To 35 Countries For € 1,000” is now supposed to show that the vehicle can be driven very economically, too.

The long-distance ride specialist Gerhard Plattner (first from the left on the picture) is going to receive a bag of EUR 1 coins at the Škoda plant in Mladá Boleslav – his task will be to take the vehicle and make a family holiday in 35 countries, with fuel costs not exceeding the aforesaid amount.
Holiday trip throughout Europe - with dummies instead of wife and children

When leaving the Mladá Boleslav plant, the boot of the Škoda Roomster TDI (with a three-cylinder 59kW engine) is going to carry luggage that a four-member family would normally take for a holiday. The luggage will be real, the family, however, will be less “real” – the wife in the passenger seat and the two children in the rear seats are “dummies“ whose weight is equal to that of an average woman and children aged eight to ten.

“Thanks to the dummies, the trip can be technically seen as a “family one”, says Plattner, “except that nobody is going to tell me how to drive or object to doing 1,000 kilometres without a break.“
Škoda Roomster - low consumption champion!
Despite the fully loaded boot, Plattner believes that the average consumption on the fifteen-thousand-kilometre trip through 35 countries will be 5 litres per 100 km and that the moneybag will not be empty when he gets back the Škoda plant. If he succeeds – and we definitely should not doubt it, considering how experienced this “world champion in economical driving” actually is – the Škoda Roomster can really be declared a “low consumption champion”.
