In addition to the Czech Republic, ŠKODA cars are made in Slovakia (Bratislava), Ukraine (Solomonovo), India (Aurangabad), Kazakhstan (Kamenogorsk), China (Shanghai) and Russia (Kaluga). ŠKODA sells its products in more than 100 countries around the word. In the Czech Republic, ŠKODA cars are being produced at plant in Mladá Boleslav and subsidiaries in Kvasiny and Vrchlabí.

ŠKODA manufacturing facilities are equipped with the most advanced technology. Qualified personnel work side-by-side with hundreds of robots to weld subassemblies as well as entire car bodies with absolute precision. ŠKODA creates even the most intricate casting tools and produces engines, axles and gearboxes for the VW Group. The best quality materials that have a low environmental impact are used. Each and every car we produce is subjected to a thorough exit check-up that tests all the systems and controls the quality of assembly work before being dispatched. The cars also must pass a test drive on a special track featuring a number of various road surfaces.
In 1895 the Laurin & Klement Co. started manufacturing bicycles named Slavia and in 1899 it began producing motorcycles. 1st automobile the Voiturette A was produced in 1905. In 1907 the company became a joint-stock company and after 1914 it took part in the production for the armed force. In 1925 fusion with the Pilsen Škoda Co. was accomplished. In early 1930s the automotive business was again organized as a separate joint-stock company within the ŠKODA Group (Automobile Industry Co., AZNP). The company became a national enterprise named AZNP in 1946. On 16 April 1991 ŠKODA merged with the Volkswagen Group.
A professional team of designers, engineers, and experts in other fields of specialty work in the Design Centre on development of new automobiles for ŠKODA, relying on many years of tradition in technical know-how, combined with modern scientific findings and experience. The progress of development includes conceptual sketches, various studies and analyses, models from modelling clay at a 1:1 scale, CAD Tuning 3D computer models of exteriors and interiors in virtual reality. The ŠKODA design studies materialize ideas of new forms and functions of a compact car and outline the future development of familiar design elements from ŠKODA AUTO.
The most important sponsoring projects of ŠKODA AUTO are the sports events, like Tour de France or Giro d’Italia bicycle races or International Ice Hockey Championship. As well as the cultural institutions, like National Theatre or Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Also very important is the support of charity organisations, like Centrum Paraple, People in Need or Adra.
In the whole development process, we try to minimize both the fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, and we use state of the art technologies. In the long term ŠKODA AUTO puts great effort into minizing the impact of its activities on the environment and fulfils every lawful duties in the environmental protection. This is evidence by the certificate for the environmental management according to the worldwide ISO 14001:2004 standard. ŠKODA AUTO also provides the ecological disposal of the vehicle when it reaches the end of its useful life. The company also provides the collection and free disposal of the ŠKODA vehicles in the authorized processing network, as well as the collection and disposal of car glass with the purpose of its recyclation.
