Aurangabad and Pune
With more than 1.2 billion residents, India is the second most populous nation in the world, and due to its continually increasing standard of living it is also one of the most rapidly growing markets for consumer vehicles in the world. For this reason, it also ranks among one of the key priorities of ŠKODA AUTO.
One of the features of the local market is the distinct popularity of compact family sedans. This is also the reason why India was the first country in the world where the ŠKODA Rapid model was introduced. Since the year 2011 it has been manufactured in the city of Pune, where Volkswagen branded vehicles are also produced.
However, the focal point of automobile production of the ŠKODA brand in India remains the Aurangabad production plant in the Maharashtra region. At present, the Laura (known in other markets as the Octavia), Yeti, and Superb models are produced here. The manufacturing capacity of these factories is presently at around 40,000 vehicles per year.
