› The seventh event of this year’s European Championship promises an exciting asphalt rally

ŠKODA Motorsport’s factory crew, Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula, are well-positioned before the seventh event of this year’s European Championship. Having converted their latest three European Championship appearances into victories, Hänninen & Markkula in a Fabia Super 2000 are looking to seal their championship lead on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

"The three consecutive victories in the European Championship have made us very confident. Obviously, we want to continue this success story and win a podium place again,” says Juho Hänninen before the start of the upcoming rally. “Madeira is a typical asphalt event with a number of lovely but difficult stretches. It’s one of the “cleanest” and smoothest asphalt surfaces I know. Most of the bends here are technically challenging, because you often can’t see round the corner. We have to prepare well, but Mikko and I are looking forward to this rally a great deal,” adds the Finnish driver.

The programme of the “Rali Vinho da Madeira” is made up of 19 special stages (250 kilometres). ŠKODA Motorsport’s latest appearance in Madeira dates back four years ago when ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000s dominated the event to sweep the podium in the end.
