Hänninen is battling home drivers in Rally 1000 Miglia. Positions after day 1 -1st Basso, 2nd Andreucci, 3rd Hänninen.

This weekend for the first time, ŠKODA Motorsport team is fighting on two fronts at the same time. The crew Hänninen/Markkula is fighting tough battles with the home drivers at Rally 1000 Miglia, the second event of the European Championship. They are third after the first leg. Kopecký and Dresler also take part in Rally Šumava within the Czech Championship at the same time.

Rally 1000 Miglia near Brescia, Italy is characterized by rainy weather. This increases the difficulty of the technical route with a lot of quickly following curves, so typical for Italian competitions. Juho Hänninen takes part in Rally 1000 Miglia for the first time; both drivers in the positions before him are among the best in Italy, and in the past they have won the local rally several times (the still leading Basso had three victories, the second Andreucci no less than five victories). The fourth after Hänninen, after the first leg, is Scandola of ŠKODA Italia Motorsport team.

Juho Hänninen: “Our expectations have been fulfilled, Rally 1000 Miglia is a difficult competition, and the home matadors are strong here. It is difficult to drive a competition with so many curves for the first time and changeable weather, nevertheless after day one we are more or less satisfied.”

The Italian rally continues on Saturday with the final day with six stages and 130 kilometres. Rally Šumava started tonight, and the results of day one will be known at midnight. Both competitions end on Saturday approximately at the same time.
