ŠKODA AUTO again winner of the ‘Czech Top 100’
Automobile manufacturer tops the Czech company ranking for the 15th time. ŠKODA honored as the ‘Most Important Company of the Czech Republic’.
ŠKODA AUTO is the winner of the competition ‘Czech Top 100’ again. The automobile manufacturer has already won the company ranking started in 1994 for the 15th time. ‘Czech Top 100’ assesses the most important Czech companies on the basis of economic key figures and current developments such as product quality, the value of the company, social responsibility and attractiveness as an employer.
The award as the ‘Most Important Company of the Czech Republic’ will take place tonight on the occasion of a gala evening in the Žofín Palace in Prague.
The award will be accepted by ŠKODA AUTO’s board member for human resources, Mr. Bohdan Wojnar. “We are very proud of this award,” says Wojnar. “It shows the significance of our company for the Czech economy and at the same time recognizes the great performance of our employees. Furthermore, the award confirms that we are on the right track with our international growth strategy. We will continue to pursue it with vigor in the coming years and increase our sales to at least 1.5 million vehicles per year until 2018,” according to the ŠKODA board member for human resources.
Since 1994, the award ‘Czech Top 100’ has been assessing the most important Czech companies that were privatized in the course of the introduction of the market economy in the Czech Republic in the early 1990s. With the exception of the year 2000, ŠKODA has regularly won first place since 1996.
This underscores the extremely successful development of the company in the past 20 years or so. Since 1991 – the year of Volkswagen’s entry – ŠKODA has been able to more than quadruple its worldwide sales and has expanded its range of vehicles from one product to the current seven model series. This development created an internationally performing company with a presence in more than 100 countries.
The recently announced 8.6 percent increase of the sales figures from January to May 2012 to a new record of 405,500 vehicles are testimony of the continued growth of the brand. At the end of 2011, the small car Citigo was launched with in the framework of the largest model offensive of the company’s history. Beginning in the fall of this year, the new compact sedan Rapid will follow in Europe. For this purpose, the domestic plants will be strengthened with investments. The capacities of all three manufacturing locations of the company in the Czech Republic will be expanded.
